The article deals with a case report concerning successful implantation of a fresh aortic homograft for correction of a life-threatening complication of Marfan syndrome, i.e., acute dissection of the ascending portion of the aorta, accompanied and followed by discussing possibilities and prospects of using homografts in cardiosurgical practice and the problems encountered by multimodality-hospital services in the settings of yet increasing widening expanding use of donor organs and tissues.
