TANAKAN – NEW DRUG FOR THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC OBLITERATING DISEASES OF EXTREMITY ARTERIES

The aim of the study was to analyze the efficacy oftanakan manufactured by Bofour Ipsen, France. The drug is an extract from the millenial tree Ginkgo biloba. Thirty-one outpatients suffering from atherosclerosis obliterans of lower extremity arteries were placed under observation. The treatment lasted 3 months. The drug dosage constituted 160 mg/day. Tanakan appeared highly effective. The positive results were obtained in 74.3% of cases. The maximal walking distance increased by 42.1 and 34.7%, respectively. The drug is well tolerated and well evaluated by the patients. In addition to the rise of the walking capacities, the other positive treatment results were recorded: improvement of the general well-being, abatement of headache and dimness, numbness in the legs and, seizures, potency rise, and so forth.
