The paper presents initial experience of cervical chemodectomas management. Particularly, prior to radical surgical removal of chemodectoma a patient underwent radioendovascular occlusion of external carotid arterial branch supplying neoplasm. Highly selective arterial catheterization according to the Seldinger technique was applied. Spherical hydrogel emboli were used as an embolizing material. Radical surgery was accomplished at the same day. Interaoperative blood loss was about 150 ml.

Presented case thus suggests promising future for combined interventions for cervical chemodectomas.

KEY WORDS: embolization, cervical chemodectomas.
