Conservative treatment of venous trophic ulcers is assumed to include elastic compression, pharmacotherapy by drugs of systemic action, the use of different forms of topical drugs. Forty-five patients entered a trial of curiozin, a new drug intended for local treatment of trophic ulcers (2nd-3rd stages of wound process). For control purposes sea-buckthorn oil was used for the treatment of the same number of analogous patients. The study has demonstrated that curiozin is highly effective in ulcer healing, removal of the painful syndrome and normalization of the condition of the adjacent skin.

KEY WORDS: trophic ulcers, chronic venous insufficiency, local treatment, curiozin.
